Becoming the focus of an image
Reed distinguished making clothes look good from making herself the focus of a photograph. Although fashion modelling had made her familiar with lighting and angles, she said that this change in presentation was difficult. Photographers she already knew helped her with posing and becoming more comfortable in that role.
Keeping the image in mind
Later in the same interview, Reed described camera work as a matter of awareness during a performance. She discussed keeping track of the camera and the light so that the intended action remained visible to the audience. These comments concern her experience of performing for an image.
